Upload and Share Files from Discord

By Storra Team4 min read

If your team lives in Discord, you should not have to switch apps every time someone needs to upload or share a file. Storra Cloud connects your storage account to Discord so you can manage files where conversations already happen - the same workflow many teams already use with storra.host, but with permanent storage behind every upload.

Why Discord + permanent storage

Discord is where communities, support teams, and dev groups coordinate. Files shared in chat disappear in the scroll. Links from quick-share tools expire. Storra Cloud keeps every upload in your account with folders, permissions, and links that stay valid - while still letting you upload from a slash command or bot interaction.

What you can do

  • Upload files directly from Discord into your Storra Cloud storage - no browser tab required.
  • List and browse recent uploads to find the right asset without digging through message history.
  • Share permanent links that work in embeds, docs, and external channels long after the original message.
  • Stay in sync with the web dashboard - anything uploaded via Discord appears in your storage view instantly.

Typical workflows

Community mods upload announcement assets once and reuse the same permanent link across channels. Support teams drop log files or screenshots into Cloud from a ticket thread. Dev teams share build artifacts and config backups without cluttering the server with attachments that expire.

Getting set up

  1. Create a free Storra Cloud account if you do not have one yet.
  2. Join the Storra Discord and connect your account following the in-server instructions.
  3. Use bot commands in any channel where the integration is enabled - uploads land in your dashboard automatically.

Need programmatic access too?

Discord is great for humans in the loop. When you need automation - CI uploads, app integrations, bulk operations - use the Storra Cloud API. Cloud Pro includes API access; see pricing for plan details. Our API getting started guide walks through your first upload in minutes.
